Met Optix is committed to helping our customers to achieve significant productivity benefits and cost savings through the use and application of leading-edge and world class measurement and testing products and technologies.
In fact at the recent exhibition in Stuttgart, the annual Control fair, the largest of its type for metrology and testing products one of the world”s leading manufacturers of metrology equipment – Hexagon Metrology featured on their stand and all around the exhibition facilities slogans and catch-phrases such as “Quality Drives Productivity” – Make it perfect the first time, then the ten-thousandth time, every time.
Hexagon is right to focus on the link between productivity and quality as every reject made is a loss in productivity and a blow to cost reduction strategies. It is interesting to see that at the world’s largest metrology equipment show the very strong interest in manufacturing technology and product innovation that is driving industry forward in Europe. It would be a great to see industry in Australia and New Zealand taking these same initiatives. For more reports on Control see our Events section.
But saying “let’s not make rejects…” is one thing but how do we do this in practice? A lot depends on the commitment and the seriousness of the business to this challenge – not hoping that by saying so as part of the mantra or some mission statement that quality will suddenly be OK. Nor by bringing in the consultants to write a great looking quality system but without any dep-down conviction to change.
The right products for the application, consiouness and committed personnel and process control and capabilities are all pre-requisites, but beyond this management commitment and resources are the key.
Met Optix takes a key part of this strategy advising where engaged in proposing strategies and solutions using appropriate technologies to achieve the desired outcomes – lower production costs and higher customer satisfaction.
